![]() We adjusted the heater and vent dials until we extended the wires all the way to give some play to slide them off their pegs. We didn't unplug the radio for fear of some dumb dealer code which might be necessary (too many passlock issues, not risking another). ![]() Unscrewing the radio helped a great deal. We removed the HVAC control unit from the car, that was not too hard, two screws, but you do have to fiddle with the wire linkage for the vent and heater to remove the head. As described in original post, the problem was pinpointed to the actual switch (0 1,2,3,4) for the fan. Low is not good enough in this freeze spell here in New York. Didn't take pictures, but I think the trial and errors I will describe will help others. ![]() You CAN remove just the switch itself from that HVAC control head (or whatever it's called). ![]() SUCCESS!!! Spent over an hour trying to locate that procedure with pictures, got fed up and tackled it ourselves.
